This Sunday, April 23, the Coachella main stage will light up with the electrifying performances of Four Tet, Skrillex, and Fred Again.. The festival's Weekend 2 schedule, previously showing a "TBA" at the 10:25 p.m. Pacific slot, has now been updated to feature these three prominent electronic music artists. Blink-182 steps in as the closing act on the final night, filling the spot left vacant by Frank Ocean's unexpected withdrawal.
The trio, Four Tet, Skrillex, and Fred Again.., have been making waves in the electronic music scene with their recent collaborative track, "Baby Again..". The track, which creatively samples Lil Baby's "Baby", has been a crowd-pleaser in their live sets, notably during their marathon five-hour b2b set at Madison Square Garden.
Unfortunately, Frank Ocean, the initial headliner for the second weekend of Coachella, had to cancel his performance following a medical emergency. A statement issued by his representatives cited "doctor's orders" due to two fractures and a sprain in Ocean's left leg. In the statement, Ocean acknowledged the unexpected circumstances, saying, "There is some beauty in chaos... I did enjoy being out there and I'll see you soon."
Rumours suggest that Ocean's original Coachella set was designed to include an ice rink and multiple ice skaters, and his unexpected injury forced the production of his performance on April 16 to be modified. The singer-songwriter abruptly ended his first performance of the festival due to curfew restrictions.
The festival's cancellation in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic had initially delayed Ocean's much-anticipated return to the stage since 2017. In 2021, Coachella announced that Ocean would be headlining in 2023, skipping the 2022 festival. His recent setback, however, has prompted the organizers to bring in a fresh lineup for the closing night of this year's festival.
