Hypersonic 2026 Lineup.jpg

Hypersonic Festival has confirmed the cancellation of its 2026 editions in Melbourne and Sydney, leaving fans of Australian electronic music disappointed just weeks out from the events. The festival, which made an impressive debut in 2025 under the Symbiotic and Hardware banner, had been scheduled to return to Melbourne Showground on Friday, 20th November, and Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney on Saturday, 21st November, 2026.

In a statement published on the festival's website, organisers explained that scheduling conflicts were at the heart of the decision. Melbourne's move to a Friday date this year proved particularly problematic, with the team noting that the change "hasn't worked out as hoped for an all-day festival," and that the knock-on effects made it impossible to deliver events worthy of their artists and audience. "We are devastated," the statement read, with organisers offering a sincere apology to all ticket holders and supporters.

The cancellation is a significant blow given the strength of this year's announced line-up, which was headlined by trance icon Armin van Buuren for a second consecutive year, alongside Dutch duo W&W, Showtek, Timmy Trumpet, CYRIL, Hybrid Minds, and a DJ set from Pendulum. Ticket holders have been offered three options: a full refund within 21 days, a free transfer to Dreamstate 2027, or a 50% refund while retaining Dreamstate tickets for those holding double passes.

For a festival that generated considerable excitement with its debut and built strong momentum heading into 2026, the news is a tough setback for both the organisers and Australia's thriving dance music community.

Hypersonic Festival has cancelled its Melbourne and Sydney 2026 events just weeks before the scheduled November dates, citing scheduling conflicts as the key reason.

Hypersonic Festival has officially revealed its full 2026 lineup, and it is shaping up to be a landmark moment for Australian electronic music. Presented by Symbiotic and Hardware, the second-ever edition of the festival will span two massive outdoor events across Melbourne Showground on Friday, 20th November, 2026, and Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney on Saturday, 21st November, 2026, with MC Stretch, the legendary voice of Tomorrowland and Stereosonic, stepping in as host across both dates.

Headlining the 2026 edition is none other than trance icon Armin van Buuren, one of electronic music's most enduring and beloved performers, whose euphoric mainstage sets have captivated global audiences for decades. Joining him is Dutch powerhouse duo W&W, known for explosive high-energy performances and festival-defining anthems, alongside genre-spanning act Showtek, whose hard-hitting EDM and electro-house legacy stretches back to the early 2000s. Rounding out the top billing are Australian trumpet-wielding showman Timmy Trumpet and celebrated liquid drum and bass duo Hybrid Minds, bringing emotional depth and melodic power to the bill.

Spanning EDM, trance, techno, drum and bass, dubstep, hardstyle, tech-house and dance pop across multiple stages, Hypersonic 2026 promises next-level production, immersive environments and a carefully curated experience that spans everything from euphoric mainstage moments to deeper underground sounds. Organisers have described this as the most ambitious chapter in the festival's short but already impressive history.

With a world-class lineup, two iconic outdoor venues and a multi-genre program built for dance music lovers of every stripe, Hypersonic 2026 is firmly one of the must-attend events on Australia's summer festival calendar.

Armin van Buuren, W&W and Timmy Trumpet Confirmed for Hypersonic Festival's Massive 2026 Edition.

Australian electronic music festival Hypersonic has officially announced its 2026 return, and it's shaping up to be the biggest edition yet. Taking place across two massive events, the festival will kick off on Friday, 20th November, 2026 at Melbourne Showgrounds, before heading to Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney on Saturday, 21st November, 2026. Notably, the Sydney event marks a significant milestone for the festival as it moves to a fully outdoor format, a move the organisers say was driven directly by fan feedback.

Both events will feature three distinct stages catering to a wide spectrum of electronic music. The main Hypersonic Stage promises a state-of-the-art production setup complete with time-coded fireworks and an upgraded sound system, delivering EDM anthems and hands-in-the-air moments throughout the day. The Hyperave Stage is designed for those chasing pure rave energy, packing heavy kicks, distorted basslines, pyrotechnics, CO2 cannons, and an immersive lighting rig into one relentless experience. For fans of more underground sounds, the Hyperspace Stage offers a sanctuary of deeper grooves, progressive house, and melodic techno.

The 2026 lineup has been described by organisers as the most stacked in Hypersonic's short but impressive history, spanning EDM, trance, techno, and hardstyle across all three stages. Ticket presale opens on Tuesday, 25th August, 2026 at 12pm, with general sale following on Wednesday, 26th August, 2026 at 12pm.

Having established itself as a rising force in Australia's dance music calendar since launching in 2025, Hypersonic is clearly setting its sights on becoming a staple summer event for electronic music fans across the country. With two major cities, three stages, and outdoor settings locked in for November, this is one to mark on the calendar early and secure tickets for as soon as presale opens.
