Manchester’s electronic music legacy takes centre stage on 2nd May, 2026 as Outwards Festival makes its debut, transforming five outdoor spaces in Ardwick into a 5,000-capacity, multi-stage celebration of alternative and electronic culture. Designed as a day-into-night gathering, the event runs from 12:00 to 23:00, with afterparties continuing across the city until 05:00. Positioned as an intergenerational meeting point, the new festival aims to honour the past while spotlighting the future of club culture in the heart of Manchester.

The inaugural lineup bridges eras and scenes, led by live sets from Orbital, Octave One, Paranoid London, The Orb, A Certain Ratio and Black Grape. Across the DJ programme, rare back-to-back moments include Moodymann alongside Carl Craig, plus influential selectors such as DJ Pierre, Midland, Josey Rebelle, Pearson Sound and OK Williams.

Beyond the dancefloor, Outwards promises artist talks, workshops, record fairs and a dedicated hi-fi listening bar, reframing the festival as a temporary cultural campus rather than a traditional headline-driven event. Festival director Olli Ryder describes it as a space for reflection, inspiration and connection, celebrating electronic music’s lineage while opening doors to what comes next. Tickets go on sale on 26th February, 2026 at 10:00am.
