ION Festival has confirmed it will not go ahead in 2025, with organisers citing ongoing financial challenges as the key reason behind the difficult decision. The beloved underground electronic music festival, which has taken place on the idyllic shores of Dhërmi, Albania, since its debut in 2022, shared the news in a heartfelt statement addressed to fans.
“Whilst we’ll always cherish our time on the stunning coast of Albania, the past few years have been challenging,” the statement read. “The rising cost of international travel and producing events to the standards we aim to deliver have made it very difficult for our festival to be financially sustainable in its current format.”
Despite the pause, organisers were clear that this is not the end of ION Festival’s journey. Discussions are already underway for a potential new location and event in 2026, with hopes of returning “better and stronger than ever.”
The most recent edition took place from 4th - 11th September 2024, with a carefully curated lineup that included Ben Klock, Helena Hauff, Dixon, DJ Nobu, Sonja Moonear, Sherelle, and HAAi. Known for its intimate atmosphere, scenic beachside setting, and forward-thinking bookings, ION Festival has earned a loyal following—and many will be hoping for its swift return.
